Jessie BakerCentre Director
Hi, I’m Jessie Baker, Centre Director of Petit ELJ Springfield Central.
I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and have been in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector for more than 17 years and find my role very rewarding.
My philosophy is based around providing a friendly, safe and supportive environment that provokes curiosity. I understand that all children will learn in different ways and at their own pace and these different learning styles need to be facilitated through a play-based learning approach.
I aim to provide a nurturing environment that promotes each child’s learning and development. My goal here at Petit ELJ Springfield Central is to create a place filled with laughter, learning and memories; not only for the children in our care but their families and our amazing educators too.
The high-quality care your child deserves.
The perfect environment for your child to discover their creativity, confidence and love of learning.
Your child will be engaged in an honest, welcoming and friendly environment that is suited to their age and developmental needs. Our staff-to-child ratios ensure your child is getting the best care and attention they need and deserve.
Springfield Central Kindergarten Program
Enrol your child in a Kindergarten Program today to encourage a smooth transition and school readiness!
There is a strong focus on children’s social and emotional development to ensure that each child has the skills to become active and confident learners as they move onto school.
Here at Petit ELJ Springfield we pride ourselves on our Kindergarten program. We have a strong emphasis on the journey to Prep-readiness and follow a play and inquiry-based curriculum which allows children to learn at their own pace in a variety of different ways. Our bachelor trained teachers develop their learning in line with the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and create real-life learning situations that explore problem-solving, investigating and experimentation, Prep-readiness skills and interest-based projects.
Petit ELJ Springfield Central Kindergarten Teacher Profiles
Shannon EdenEarly Childhood Teacher
As an Early Childhood Teacher my goals for the children is to guide them on their journey to Prep-readiness, including emotionally and socially. I aim to guide their independence and develop a life long love of learning.
I believe that the Kindergarten program here at Petit ELJ is inspired by a mixture of both teacher-initiated learning and child-led experiences, as well as incorporating parent input. Parent input is gathered throughout the term through communication books, storypark and parent-teacher conversations and meetings. We also gain their input in terms of their children’s goals for the year while in our studio. Our Children are always included in our program in terms of both planning and reflection. This guides our practice and ensures the program we are providing is catered to each child within the room.
Our Prep-readiness program is a balance between the learning of the academics of becoming a life long learner and building the confidence, personal identity, social skills, emotional regulation, individual values and play skills.
Michelle AsheEarly Childhood Teacher
As an Early Childhood Teacher, I aim for all children to achieve their full potential. I guide them in achieving their own goals to become confident and to remain enthusiastic about their learning.
As each child has different learning needs and abilities, I ensure I take this into consideration when developing the Kindergarten program. I aim to build on each of their strengths and challenge them in their learning.
Here at Petit ELJ, we understand that the overall development of a child’s wellbeing plays an essential role in preparing them for formal schooling. I aim to develop self-confidence and build their resilience which in turn positively impacts how children cope in their transition to school.
The social and emotional development of a child is crucial to how they will cope with such changes. Building positive relationships with others, and being able to express themselves emotionally will assist them greatly with the transition to school. Through the development of the Kindergarten program that is guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines, we are also developing self-help skills that will also assist in building self-confidence in the ability to try new things.
As an Early Childhood Teacher, I am currently working with the concept of children being equal partners in the planning of their curriculum. We use learning maps regularly when working on projects and through discussions about our interests and what we would like to learn. Through map planning, I aim to give the children the opportunity to engage and have input into how and what our learning focus will be and how we will achieve our learning outcomes together. Learning maps provide a visual of children’s current understandings and allow for future planning.
